Verlane vs Teal

Teal runs a whole job search: a job tracker, a Chrome extension, a resume builder and AI writing tools. Verlane tailors your resume to one posting from your own material only. Where each is stronger, what they cost, and how they fit together.

Verlane is our product. Everything on this page about Teal comes from Teal's own public pages as they were on 25 Oct 2026; the sources are listed at the end.

The short answer

Choose Teal if you want to run your whole job search in one place: save jobs from job boards with its Chrome extension, track every application, keep contacts and follow-up emails together, and build resumes from dozens of templates.[1][2]

Choose Verlane if you want the tailored resume and cover letter written only from your own resume, notes and answers, with every sentence checked against that material before you see it.

Of the tools compared on this site, Teal pairs most naturally with Verlane, because its job tracker covers a part of the search that Verlane has none of.[2]

Where Teal is stronger

If you want one place for the whole search, not only the resume, these are the points to weigh. Each one comes from the company's own pages, linked at the end.

  • The job tracker. Teal keeps every application in one place, with ratings to prioritize saved jobs, checklists for each application and a spreadsheet-style view, and tracking is unlimited on the free plan.[1][2]
  • Saving jobs from anywhere. Teal's Chrome extension saves a listing from job boards such as Indeed, Glassdoor and BuiltIn straight into the tracker.[2]
  • Contacts and follow-ups. Teal lets you attach recruiters, hiring managers and referrals to each job, offers more than 40 email templates for the stages of a search, and lists a networking CRM.[1][2]
  • Design. Teal offers dozens of resume templates and a design mode for the look of the resume. Verlane has three templates.[1]
  • A generous free plan. Unlimited resumes and unlimited job tracking cost nothing on Teal.[1]
  • LinkedIn and interviews. Teal lists LinkedIn tools, including a profile review, and an interview tracker.[1]

Where Verlane is different

Verlane does one part of the search, the writing, and holds it to one set of sources: your resume, the notes and documents you keep in Mindbase, and the answers you give it. The posting decides what matters. It is never a source of claims about you.

The work runs in this order.

  • It reads the posting into requirements and looks for proof of each one in your resume and notes.
  • When something important has no proof, it asks you instead of guessing: up to three questions a run, answered Yes, Partly or No. A No is remembered, so a later run doesn't ask about the same requirement again.
  • It writes new text only from that proof and from your answers.
  • It checks every suggested sentence against your material before you see it. A sentence without support is cut back to what your material says, or removed.
  • It shows each edit with the before and after side by side, and changes nothing until you accept it.

The score and the rest

The match score is a formula you can follow: up to 60 points for how many of the posting's key terms your resume covers, counting the usual other ways of saying them, and up to 40 points for structure. It moves as you accept edits.

The same evidence feeds a cover letter and answers to application questions, in the same chat, so nothing is re-uploaded. A free health check reviews a resume when there is no job in hand.

What Verlane doesn't do

Verlane is a young product with a narrow job. Most of what it leaves out is the organizing side of a job search, so you can decide before you sign in.

  • No job tracker and no browser extension.
  • No LinkedIn profile tool.
  • No interview practice, no auto-apply and no job board.
  • No review of your resume by a person.
  • It doesn't open job links. You paste the text of the posting.
  • It doesn't identify which applicant tracking system an employer uses.
  • Three templates: Minimal, Clean and Vivid.
  • Sign-in with Google or email only, and English only.
  • A tailoring run takes a few minutes rather than seconds, because every sentence is checked.

Price

Teal's free plan includes unlimited resumes and unlimited job tracking, with limits on keyword matching, templates and AI credits. Teal+ costs $13 per 7 days, $29 per 30 days or $79 per 90 days, according to its pricing page on the date above.[1]

Verlane is free during early access, with no card needed. If that changes, pricing will be announced in the app before anything is charged.

Questions to ask any resume tool

Whichever tool you choose, this one included, these questions tell you whether the result will hold up in an interview.

  • Where did this sentence come from? A trustworthy tool can point to the line in your resume or notes, or to the answer you gave it.
  • What happens when I don't meet a requirement? Does the tool ask you, or does a matching line simply appear?
  • Can I see each change before and after, and turn it down?
  • Does anything check the output before I see it, or does the model's first draft go straight into my resume?
  • Are the numbers in my bullets ones I measured? Percentages are the most common invention.
  • Could I talk about every line for two minutes in an interview? If not, the line isn't mine yet.

Using both

Teal can hold the search: saved jobs, statuses, contacts and follow-ups. Verlane can write the tailored resume and cover letter for the roles you decide to apply to. Paste the posting's text into Verlane, accept the edits you agree with, and track the application in Teal.[1][2]

Whatever you combine, keep one master copy of your resume, and put the questions above to every line that comes back.

Looking for a Teal alternative?

Is Verlane a Teal alternative?

For tailoring and AI writing, yes, if you want every line held to your own material and checked. For tracking applications, saving jobs and managing contacts, keep Teal: Verlane has none of those.[2]

Does Verlane track job applications?

No. Verlane saves your tailoring history, but it has no tracker for application statuses, contacts or follow-ups.

Can I use Teal and Verlane together?

Yes. Keep the search organized in Teal, and paste each posting you apply to into Verlane for the tailored resume and cover letter.[2]

Is Verlane free?

Yes, during early access, and no card is needed. Pricing will be announced in the app before anything is charged.
