Types of prompts
Application forms ask for everything from "Why do you want to join us?" to character-limited summaries, work authorization, and salary expectations. Treat each field as its own answer — do not paste your cover letter twice.
Evidence-first answers
Pull examples from the same sources as your resume: recent roles, projects, and notes you keep about your work. Answer the exact question; if it asks for leadership, give a leadership story, not a general skills list.
- Respect character limits — lead with the strongest sentence
- For "why this company," cite something real you researched
- For salary, follow local custom; defer if the form allows
- Keep tone professional and consistent with your resume voice
Reuse without copy-paste
Good answers can be adapted across similar roles, but swap company names, products, and requirements each time. Store strong paragraphs in your own notes so you never invent details under time pressure.
